The founder and organiser of the professional tasting competition Favorite Food&Drinks, Olena Sinitsyna, spoke to AgroPortal.ua about trends in the plant-based food market. According to her observations during visits to European supermarkets, separate showcases and shelves with plant-based products indicate the formed assortment and consumer interest.
The expert noted that consumers of plant-based products are not only vegans, but also supporters of traditional products who are looking for new tastes and experiences. At the same time, producers of traditional products should not be afraid of competition - on the contrary, it is an incentive to improve production technologies and animal husbandry.
According to Sinitsina, although plant-based products have not been submitted to the Favorite Food&Drinks competition in previous years due to the pandemic and war, such samples are expected to appear for tasting in the near future, as interest in this category is growing among consumers and retailers.
