Baby food: labelling

Baby food must be of high quality, safe and  useful, because this is the key to the health and development of our children.

There are special requirements for manufacturers and sellers of baby food in Ukraine, in particular, regarding its labelling.

 The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection draws the attention of consumers and market operators to the fact that in addition to the mandatory information about the food product, additional information should be indicated on baby food:

📌 next to the name, the age of the child from which he or she can consume such a product is indicated;

📌 special nutritional needs, functional conditions and/or diseases, in the presence of which it is recommended to consume such food products;

📌 information on the method of preparation and/or use of such food product and a warning about the danger to the child's health in case of improper preparation or storage, as well as, if relevant, a note on the importance of following this method;

📌 extended nutritional information is required, which should additionally include the amount of each mineral (except molybdenum) and each vitamin, as well as the amount of choline, inositol and carnitine;

📌 information on the content of vitamins and minerals, expressed as a percentage of the relevant reference intake values;

📌 information about the undeniable benefits of breastfeeding;

📌 the labelling, presentation and advertising of infant formula and infant formula for further feeding of infant formula and infant formula for further feeding shall not contain the words "humanised", "mother's milk", "adapted" or any words of the same root or derivatives thereof in any language.
