When buying a packaged food product, every consumer pays attention to its weight, which is indicated on the labelling. But not everyone checks the accuracy of these figures.
The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection periodically receives appeals from consumers who report that when weighing a packaged food product, it turned out that the weight of the product is less than stated on the label.
☝️ It is worth noting that in accordance with the Technical Regulations, for some goods that are packed by weight and volume in finished packaging, the permissible negative deviations of the contents of the packaged unit are established, namely
9% with a nominal content of 5 to 50 grams/millilitres;
🔸 4.5 grams/millilitres with a nominal content of 50 to 100 grams/millilitres;
🔸 4.5% at a nominal content of 100 to 200 grams/millilitres;
🔸 9 grams/millilitres with a nominal content of 200 to 300 grams/millilitres;
🔸 3% with a nominal content of 300 to 500 grams/millilitres;
🔸 15 grams/millilitres with a nominal content of 500 to 1000 grams/millilitres;
🔸 1.5% at a nominal content of 1000 to 10000 grams/millilitres.
If you find a negative difference in the weight of the packaged goods that is greater than that provided for by the current technical regulations, please contact the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection and its territorial bodies.
