Many consumers choose to shop at agri-food markets. In different parts of Ukraine, markets differ in assortment, pricing and even in their special atmosphere!
The only thing that should be common to all agri-food markets in our country is compliance with Hygienic requirements for agri-food marketsapproved by the Order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of 19.04.2024 No. 1279.
Fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, cheeses - this is not a complete list of foods that you can choose, taste and buy at the market.
However, for the safety of consumers, sales on the agri-food market are strictly prohibited:
- food products in the absence of confirmation of their suitability based on the results of tests (studies) by an accredited laboratory located in the agri-food market;
- food products whose minimum shelf life or use-by date has expired;
- foodstuffs that are perishable due to their microbiological properties in the absence of refrigeration equipment that allows for appropriate temperature conditions for their storage;
- confectionery and culinary products, semi-finished meat and fish products (minced meat, cutlets, blood and home-made sausages, seltz, jelly, etc.) of home production;
- home-made canned meat, fish, dairy, fruit and vegetable, fruit and berry, and mushroom products;
- grain and cereal products contaminated with seeds of harmful weeds and medicinal plants;
- spoilt or rotting vegetables, herbs, fruits, berries.
So, be careful and cautious when shopping, carefully inspect the appearance and labelling of food products and do not be afraid to ask the seller for documents confirming that the product meets safety requirements.
