Ukraine has the Law of Ukraine "On Peculiarities of Legal Protection of Geographical Indications for Agricultural Products and Foodstuffs, Protection of Rights and Application of Quality Schemes, Including Traditional Guaranteed Features for Agricultural Products and Foodstuffs", which is aimed at protecting unique products and informing consumers about their origin and quality.
What is a geographical indication? It is the name of a place that indicates the origin of a product from a particular region and confirms its special properties, reputation or characteristics that depend on that place. It can be, for example, a famous wine or local cheese that is produced only in a certain region.
Such designations help you choose an authentic product and protect yourself from being misled.
State control over compliance with the requirements of the legislation on the labelling and use of geographical indications, as well as consideration of citizens' appeals in case of violations by the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection within its powers
